On Wednesday, July 3, 2019, Dr. Sahar Nasr, Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ECG Engineering Consultants Group, and the dafabet com of Neapolis in Cyprus, at the Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation. The signing was part of the “dafabet com to Work” initiative, which is one of the initiatives to invest in the human element. This initiative aims to build the capacity of students of engineering faculties in Egyptian universities, and provide them with the technical and professional skills that qualify them for the labor market at home and abroad where the target is for 570 students to benefit from the agreement.
Dr. Neveen Abdelkhalek, ECG Deputy Managing Director, and Dr. Pantelis Sklias, President of the dafabet com of Neapolis, signed the agreement. Mrs. Aliki Potonou Founder and CEO of GAMMA INVEST, and NUP representative in Egypt, Mr. Nikolaos Sarlis, Special Project Advisor of “Leptos Group”, owner of the dafabet com of Neapolis in Cyprus, in addition to Ambassador Reda Bebars, the ministerial advisor for international cooperation affairs, attended the event.
Dr. Neveen Abdelkhaleq pointed out that, since its start-up in 2010 until now, the number of graduates of the initiative has reached about 5500 students; explaining that the memorandum of understanding allows the exchange of training experiences in a world-class market with constantly changing needs. She said that the establishment of a branch of Cyprus’ dafabet com of Neapolis in Egypt was discussed this was to benefit from European expertise in all fields, in addition to inaugurating an initiative to train graduates of other faculties, especially the faculties of commerce.
Dr. Pantelis Sklias, President of the dafabet com of Neapolis added that the cooperation between the dafabet com and Egypt includes the provision of 33 postgraduate scholarships at the dafabet com in Cyprus, fully and partially supported, in engineering-related areas, such as business administration and real estate. He welcomed the idea of expanding cooperation to include other areas such as banking and accounting, to achieve Egypt’s benefit from Cyprus and European expertise in these areas as well.
