On March 6, 2019, ECG Vice President Dr. Nevine Abdelkhalek effectively participated as a Keynote Speaker on the CSR: The Road to Investment & Development Forum organized by CSR Egypt and hosted by the General Authority for Investment and attended by representatives of CSR stakeholders from the Governmental Sector, Private Sector, Civil Society Associations and International Organizations.

 

In her capacity as ECG Vice  President  &  EBA Sustainable Committee Chairperson,  Dr. Nevine Abdelkhalek talked on the panel that had speakers representing the different CSR Stakeholders in Egypt; including Mr. Moataz Yakn Advisor the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Eng. Aml Mobadda Resources Development Director at Misr El-Khair, Mr. Mohamed Mostafa the ILO Industrial Relations Program Manager, Mr. Mohamed El-Fouly CEO the UN Global Compact Network /Egypt, Middle East and Eastern Europe.

In her talk, Dr. Nevine Abdelkhalek highlighted the importance of CSR activities for sustainability of the business and how companies should move from doing pure charity activities to sustainable development projects .e.g.  ECG implementing the University to Work (UTW) and School to Work (STW) Projects to qualify Egyptian youth for the engineering labor market. She also highlighted the challenges of CSR in Egypt and the need for awareness raising activities.

During the CSR forum, some companies and banks like El-Sweedy Electric, El-Araby Group, El-Qalaa, Vodafone, Nestle, Juhayna Food Industries, L’Oreal, Unilever, Microsoft and Attijariwafa Bank presented their successful CSR projects

The 2nd Annual Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility was held on 3 and 4 May 2016 at the Nile Ritz Carlton Hotel in downtown Cairo. Organized by Egypt CSR Forum and Terous Misr Foundation, the forum took place with the participation of several public figures and government officials.

In a speech addressing a panel titled “Integration to Accomplish Goals: Social Responsibility Cooperation, Not Competition,” ECG Chairman Amr Allouba pointed out the mechanics of transition from charity to sustainable development.

ECG Vice President Dr. Nevine AbdelKhalek moderated a main panel titled “Common Vision for a Good, Productive Global Citizen.” The panel discussed ways to develop an operational plan to emphasize the role of private companies in achieving the government’s development goals. It was stressed that all parties should join forces to strengthen the role of the Egyptian citizen in society.

Ethio-Egyptian Business Forum was held with the aim of exploring areas of business cooperation between Ethiopia and Egypt. The event took place on Sunday November 2nd, 2014 at Sheraton Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

The forum addressed exploring the Ethiopian market in the fields of agriculture, education, real estate, telecom and construction; focusing to increase the Egyptian market share in Ethiopia. The five-year strategic plan of Ethiopia was also presented during the forum, highlighting the construction of a major 1000-Km railway and the expansion of textile and leather production industry.

The forum topics were presented by many speakers including Chairperson of the Ethiopian Business Council, Mr. Solomon Afewerk; Chairperson of the Egyptian Business Council, Mr. Ayman Eissa; the Egyptian Minister of Industry, Trade and Small Industries, Mr. Munir Fakhry Abdelnour; as well as the Ethiopian Minister of Trade, Mr. Kebede Chane who emphasized the importance of promoting the Ethiopian products in the Egyptian market.

The event was attended by officials from both countries including the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sami Shoukri; the Ethiopian Minister of State for Industry, Mr. Taddesse Haile; and the General Director of Ethiopia’s Investment Agency, Mr. Fitsum Arega. Also, the ambassadors from Ethiopia and Egypt attended the forum.
