The road plays an important role in import\/export traffic, linking Tanzania-Kenya-Sudan with Uganda and Ethiopia, serving about 19.8 million people in Western Kenya as well as facilitating trade and regional integration.<\/p>\n<p>The road connects areas with greater weights of business activities including eco-tourism, industrialization, market diversification, financial institutions among other sectors; which leads to improving the living standards of the people in the area and creates potential economic opportunities including agriculture, livestock, forestry and minerals, fisheries, wildlife and tourism.<\/p>\n<p>The project works include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reconstruction and widening of the existing road<\/li>\n<li>Construction of service roads, access roads and market road loops<\/li>\n<li>Rehabilitation works<\/li>\n<li>Preparation for pavement widening and earthworks as well as construction of road shoulders necessary as per drawings and specifications.<\/li>\n<li>Construction of pipe culverts and ancillary drainage works<\/li>\n<li>Provision of road furniture and road marking<\/li>\n<li>Construction of a dual carriageway<\/li>\n<li>Other operations ancillary to the main works.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":4232,"template":"","activity":[567,562],"country":[187,184],"scope":[641],"sector":[264,263],"yoast_head":"\n<title>Kakamega-Webuye Road (A1) - ECG website<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ecgsa.com\/project\/kakamega-webuye-road-a1\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_US\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Kakamega-Webuye Road (A1) - ECG website\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"Being a part of Kisumu-Kitale Road network, the 40 km Kakamega-Webuye Road is classified by the Kenyan Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure as &ldquo;Class A1: International Trunk Road&rdquo;.
